Anyone need a clarinet to mess around with?
I have an old student clarinet, plastic body. It needs a good cleaning and probably could do with some pads. They haven't been replaced since 2002 or so, which is also when I last used it. (Bought a wooden model.)
There are a few wear spots on some of the keys, and it's definitely not the clarinet you want if you're a clarinet major, but if you need a backup plastic one for marching in the cold, or if you want something for a clarinet tech, this'll do the job.
$50 and it's yours. Cheap because like I said, you'll need to clean it and give it a tuneup. Pics available, leave a comment with your email if interested. I can meet you anywhere on campus, or drop it off within 5 miles or so in any direction.

Anybody want to go see Brandi Carlile play at the Iron Horse on April 28? It's a Saturday night, and tickets are $18.00 if you get them pre-sale. I really want to see her live again, but I don't want to go by myself.

This Saturday, at the UMass vs. William & Mary football game, will be the 22nd annual UMass Band Day!
Come out watch as over 3,200 musicians play selections from The Little Mermaid in a VERY special halftime production. And, be sure to stick around after the game for the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band's traditional Post-Game show!
Kick-off is at 1:00pm, but you'll want to show up early to cheer on the team as they run onto the field!
Remember, UMass students get in for free!

Hey, how and where do I borrow music?
My clarinet teacher wants me to borrow a particular piece from the library. Is that the Real Library? What floor?

I am an incoming freshman (fall of 2006) in amherst.
Currently my major is journalism, but just out of curiosity, how hard would it be to get into the music program if I decided music was what I wanted to do?
is that even possible?

Looking for bassist and drummer who are interested in STRAIGHT UP ROCKING OUT in a band that has its music already together, has been offered sponsorship by corona, but needs competent musicians to finish up the group, for at least as long as it takes to finish the arrangements and quick recordings, and as long as possible thereafter. excellent practice space, amps, drums USUALLY provided for rehearsals.
we aim for eventually being--damn right--rock stars. but you can stay as long as you'd like, though we'd prefer idealism and NO FLAKES OR SPACE CADETS.
do you classify yourself as "good"? in general--ie, can keep a solid tempo, groove, improvise for self/when shit happens/jamming, has played extensively with others, preferably with at least an ounce of classical and jazz training or a healthy respect for britney spears' "toxic"--and are you an agreeable person?

hi everyone, i feel kind of weird joining this community because, well, i don't even go to umass lowell and i'm not even a college student yet. for background, my name's megan and i'm a sophomore in high school but have been actively looking at colleges for a couple of years. i play viola, clarinet, and piano seriously, along with a bunch of other instruments (not well) on the side. i actually don't live in mass. either, i'm from upstate new york but i'm looking for an alternative to the oh so common crane school of music as suny potsdam or suny fredonia. in two years, i'm interested in going to school for music education and i've heard that umass lowell has a good music ed. program. the things i'm wondering are 1) what is the music ed. program like and 2) how far is lowell from boston, my favorite city in the world. these are both things that i really could just look up on my own, but i'm being lazy. i also wanted some feedback from students there as to what the campus/lifestyle is like. so if you could comment, that would be incredible. thanks in advance.

I really don't want to do this...
I have one ticket for sale for the Green Day/My Chemical Romance concert on April 30 at 8:00. I have a conflict with the concert that I can't avoid, and I can't go anymore. I bought the ticket for $36, and I'm selling it for $30. Comment or email me at email@example.com if you're interested in buying it. The seat is Section G, Row 34, Seat 3. I don't want to waste this ticket and I know there are a lot of people who want to see this show who didn't buy one.
Apologies if you see this multiple times...I'm x-posting this like crazy.

3:37PM - Desperately Seeking Tubas!
Hi all, my name's Nick and I posted in here a while ago about my band looking for new members. Well, we're always looking for new people to join up, but there is one instrument in particular we're in dire need of...
WE NEED TUBAS!
We're getting together a pretty sizable band for this year, but our tuba player (he's marched with us for a few years now) has switched to trumpet and refuses to switch back. Thus said, we're up the creek without a paddle. We need tubas, and we need them now. If anybody is in the Massachusetts area and wants to join a summer marching band, earn tons of community service by marching with us, and visit far-off places with us, drop me a line!

Greetings and Salutations!
I am contacting you all today to inform you of a summer marching opportunity that some of you may find interesting.
I march with a group called the Bandmasters' Crimson Brigade. We are a parade band (no half-time shows) who performs in parades, fairs, and amusement parks throughout New England. In addition to our regular parade events, we also perform in a few far-away locations each year. In past years, we have performed in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Ohio, and Florida. Special performances include: Disney World, the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame, the NFL Hall of Fame Induction Parade, and Hershey Park.
During a regular season, we march an average of 15 parades, with an additional 3 or 4 fairground / amusement park walkthrough’s.
This season, we have been invited back to Canton, Ohio’s NFL Hall of Fame Induction Parade. Not only is this the sixth-biggest parade in the nation, but it is also nationally televised. Here is an outline of the trip as it currently stands:
Two days at Niagara Falls
Three days in Canton, Ohio
Six Flags performance, remainder of day in park
NFL Hall of Fame Induction Parade, followed by Meet-and-Greet with players
NFL Hall of Fame
Like parades but don’t want to go on the trip? Like traveling, but don’t want a time commitment? NO PROBLEM! Bandmasters’ was founded on the belief that people should be able to have fun while playing music. This means, you only have to come to the events that you want to attend. No pressure or obligations!
Does any of this sound interesting? Want more information? Simply email me and let me know, or reply here. I’ll be able to get you additional information, as well as answer any questions you may have.

If anybody knows any queer bands, or bands that would attract a queer audience that would be interested at playing at UMass during Queerfest in the Spring, that would be great. This is an awesome opportunity for little known bands to play for a large audience.
You can either leave a comment here or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with suggestions for bands (if you are a fan) or for more information about specifics (if you are a band)
Thank you so much for your help.

I know that I didn't post anything about BOA, but I didn't quite know how to sum up the pure, concentrated emotion that was this experience. Luckily Rob Graff has seemed to do that for me, in his press release.
